The girl’s grandmother said she discovered the attack outside the house and family members rushed to rescue the child before taking her to hospital.

Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said police are investigating the incident under two separate legal provisions.

• Section 289 of the Penal Code, relating to negligence involving animals
