Malaysia 10-year passport renewals are available online from today, November 2, 2026, through the Immigration Department’s MyOnline Passport system. Eligible applicants can now choose between five- and 10-year validity periods when renewing through the service.
The department announced the expansion on November 1, adding another option for Malaysians preparing to update their travel documents.web26.bernama.com
Latest News: What Has Changed Online?
According to The Star’s November 2 report, online applications previously offered only five-year validity.
Lowyat.NET reported that people choosing the 10-year version previously had to apply at an immigration office.
The latest development therefore concerns the renewal channel. The longer-validity passport itself has been available since July, rather than launching for the first time this month. For applicants, the practical change is being able to select that option through the online renewal system. The Star

Latest Details: Five-Year and 10-Year Fees
The Immigration Department’s official fee schedule lists the following rates for standard applicant categories:
For standard applicants aged 18–59, the Malaysia 10-year passport costs RM150 more upfront than the five-year version and provides five additional years of validity.
These are category-specific fees. Special applicant categories have separate provisions, so the RM350 figure should not be treated as a universal price for every Malaysian.Malaysian Immigration Department

Current Status: More Than 85,000 Already Issued
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said 627,142 passports were issued between July 1 and September 30.
Of those, 541,994 had five-year validity, while 85,148 had 10-year validity. Those figures describe passports issued during the earlier rollout, rather than applications submitted through the newly expanded online option.
The Malaysia 10-year passport update now adds online renewal access following that initial implementation period. It gives eligible applicants another way to choose their preferred validity without changing the distinction between the two fee categories. The Star

What’s Next: Where to Renew
The department’s official e-Services portal provides the MyOnline Passport renewal link, application guidance, application-status enquiries and payment-status checks.
Applicants considering a Malaysia 10-year passport renewal can begin there and check the requirements applying to their category. The announcement concerns renewals; first-time applications and special circumstances do not necessarily follow the same online process.
The main comparison is straightforward: the relevant fee, the available validity period and whether the applicant meets the online renewal conditions.imigresen-online.imi.gov.my
