Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali has died at the age of 100, prompting tributes across Malaysia for one of the country’s most recognisable public figures and pioneering female doctors. She passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur at 9.20am on September 28, 2026, according to Malaysian news agency Bernama.

Her death was confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir. She is survived by her husband, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and their seven children.
