The New MyKad BUDI95 process has caught the attention of Malaysians after the latest-generation MyKad began rolling out on September 17, 2026. The good news is that the new card can still be used immediately for government assistance and fuel subsidies, including BUDI MADANI RON95, as long as the holder meets the relevant eligibility requirements.

However, there is one important physical difference users should know before heading to the petrol station.

The biggest change involves the location of the smart chip.

On the previous MyKad, the chip was positioned on the front. On the new-generation MyKad, the chip has been moved to the back of the card. Because of this, users need to turn the new MyKad over before inserting it into a BUDI95 card reader at participating petrol stations.

This means the New MyKad BUDI95 system itself remains available, but the way the physical card is inserted may look different from what Malaysians are used to.

How to Use the New MyKad for BUDI95

The process remains straightforward:

1. Go to a petrol station that supports BUDI95 verification.
2. Insert your new MyKad into the card reader.
3. For the new-generation card, make sure the card is turned so the rear-positioned chip can be read correctly.
4. Wait for the system to verify your BUDI95 eligibility and available monthly quota.
5. Make payment using the available method, such as cash, debit card, credit card or supported e-wallet.
6. Fill RON95 as usual at the subsidised price if you are eligible.

The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that MyKad is used to verify eligibility, while payment is made separately through normal payment methods.

Will Changing MyKad Affect Your Subsidy?

No. JPN has clarified that government subsidy records are not stored directly inside the MyKad.

Instead, eligibility information is maintained in the relevant systems, including BUDI MADANI. This means receiving a new MyKad does not reset or remove an existing subsidy record, and the card can be used for eligible assistance once issued.

As of September 2026, eligible BUDI95 users can purchase subsidised RON95 at RM1.99 per litre, subject to the applicable monthly entitlement. The standard monthly allocation was restored to 300 litres from September 1.

Do You Need to Replace Your Old MyKad?

Not everyone needs to change their card.

JPN says existing MyKad holders do not need to replace their current card simply because the new version has been introduced, provided the existing MyKad remains in good condition and usable.

So if your current card is still working, you can continue using it for BUDI95 as usual.

What Malaysians Should Remember

For New MyKad BUDI95 users, the main thing to remember is simple: the chip is now on the back, so check the card orientation before inserting it into the petrol station terminal.

Your subsidy eligibility does not disappear just because you changed to the new MyKad.
