ExFunCity News | Check Your IC: Over RM13 Billion in Malaysia Unclaimed Money
By ExFunCity · 8 Oct 2026
TL;DR — Malaysia unclaimed money exceeds RM13 billion. Check eGUMIS with your IC and follow three simple steps to submit an eligible claim online.
Malaysia unclaimed money has exceeded RM13 billion, meaning some Malaysians may still have forgotten bank balances, salaries, dividends, insurance payments or other funds waiting to be claimed. The Accountant General’s Department recorded more than RM13 billion in unclaimed money as of January 31, 2026. ANM
The good news is that you can check using your Malaysian IC number through the official eGUMIS system.
Latest Update
Malaysia’s Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys allows individuals to search for records using their identification number.
The government does not charge a fee for checking or claiming Malaysia unclaimed money, and the Registrar has confirmed there is no time limit for a rightful owner to submit a claim. The Finance Ministry and Registrar also do not appoint private agents to handle claims. eGUMIS

What Can Become Unclaimed Money?
Unclaimed money can come from many everyday financial transactions.
Examples listed by the Accountant General’s Department include unpaid salaries, bonuses, commissions, dividends, approved insurance claims, matured fixed deposits and dormant savings or current accounts. ANM
This means even if you do not remember losing any money, it may still be worth checking.

How to Check and Claim in 3 Steps
Step 1: Search with your IC. Go to eGUMIS and enter your identification number. The search page will show whether records are found under your IC. eGUMIS
Step 2: Log in and select the record. If money is found, register or log in to view the details. Select the record you want and choose “Continue With Application.”
Step 3: Submit your claim. Enter the recipient and active bank-account details, upload the required supporting documents and submit the application. You can later check the status through eGUMIS. eGUMIS
Payment is not automatic simply because a record appears. Applicants must still prove they are the rightful owner or legally entitled to the funds.

You Can Also Check Through MyGOV Malaysia
Checking Malaysia unclaimed money has become even more convenient.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil confirmed on October 6 that the MyGOV Malaysia app now includes access to unclaimed-money checks alongside other government services such as road tax, driving licences, passports and STR information. BERNAMA
What Malaysians Should Remember
Only use official government platforms when checking or claiming your money.
JANM has specifically warned that it does not appoint agents and does not charge any application fee. Avoid giving your IC, banking information or eGUMIS login details to people claiming they can recover the money for you. eGUMIS
With more than RM13 billion recorded, spending a few minutes checking your IC could reveal money you did not realise was still waiting for you.
