Malaysia free medicine delivery will begin nationwide from October 1, 2026, giving eligible patients under the Ministry of Health’s postal medicine programme a more convenient way to receive follow-up medication. The government will fully cover the delivery cost, meaning patients using the service will no longer need to pay the previous postage fee.

Importantly, “free medicine delivery” refers to the delivery charge being covered, rather than all medicines in Malaysia automatically becoming free.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will support the Health Ministry in providing free postal medicine delivery from October 1.

The initiative will be rolled out nationwide with approximately RM5 million in funding. Before this change, patients using the postal service had to pay delivery charges themselves.

The government had earlier indicated that the expanded programme could support around 80,000 patients per month.

The Malaysia free medicine delivery initiative builds on the Health Ministry’s existing Ubat Melalui Pos programme.

Under the service, eligible patients can have their follow-up medicine supply delivered to their chosen address instead of repeatedly travelling to a government hospital or health clinic pharmacy.
