Latest News: Liverpool Target Third Straight Champions League Win

Liverpool have enjoyed an impressive start to their European campaign.

The Reds defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 in their opening Champions League match before securing a remarkable 6-3 away victory against Austrian side LASK.

French forward Bradley Barcola was the standout performer against LASK, scoring a hat-trick to help Liverpool claim all three points.

With eight goals from two Champions League matches, Liverpool have demonstrated considerable attacking quality.

The team also recovered from their recent Premier League defeat against Manchester City by beating Brentford 2-1 on October 17.

That domestic victory provides additional confidence ahead of the Villarreal encounter.

Latest Update: Liverpool Face Five Injury Absences

The biggest concern ahead of Liverpool vs Villarreal involves Liverpool's injury situation.

According to UEFA's Matchday 3 team news, five Liverpool players are unavailable.

Jeremie Frimpong sustained a hamstring injury during the recent victory over Brentford.

Dominik Szoboszlai is also sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Meanwhile, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain unavailable.

According to Liverpool Offside's injury update, Frimpong could remain sidelined until around the November international break.

These absences may force Iraola to make changes to his starting lineup.

Current Status: Villarreal Arrive After Important European Victory

Villarreal are also entering the encounter with renewed confidence.

The Spanish club lost their opening Champions League fixture 3-2 against Borussia Dortmund.

However, they recovered by defeating Napoli 3-1 in their second European match.

Historically, Liverpool have enjoyed success against Villarreal in European knockout matches.

The English club eliminated Villarreal in the 2016 Europa League semi-finals and again in the 2022 Champions League semi-finals.

Despite that record, Liverpool cannot afford to underestimate their opponents.
