Record Update: How Como vs Lens Makes History

The result equalled the eight-goal winning margin achieved by Liverpool against Besiktas in 2007 and Real Madrid against Malmo in 2015. Both those matches finished 8-0.

Como also joined Bayern Munich as a team to score nine goals in a single Champions League match. Bayern beat Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in 2024.

The away setting makes this result particularly significant. Como became the first side in the Champions League era to score nine goals away from home. This was therefore both a record-equalling winning margin and a landmark away performance.punchng.com

Current Position: Three Wins From Four

Cesc Fabregas’ team moved to fourth with nine points after four matches. Their first Champions League campaign had already included 4-1 victories against RB Leipzig and Manchester United.

For Malaysian supporters following United and the wider European competition, Como vs Lens adds another notable result to the Italian club’s growing profile. Their attacking success has now extended across three separate victories, rather than a single surprise night. The Star

There was another measure of the team’s contribution beyond the final score: Opta reported that 11 different Como players either scored or provided an assist, a new Champions League record.Opta Analyst
